An extensive park in the northern area of the city with unique elements intended as a tribute to Germany.
Berlin Park is an urban park in Chamartín that is framed by Avenida Ramón y Cajal, Calle Marcenado and Calle San Ernesto. A green area occupying 49,000 square meters that was created in 1967 and has several entrances of which the main one is the one opposite the Parish Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
The park has a number of significant elements, including remains from the fall of the Berlin Wall decorated with ornamental fountains, large open spaces and children’s playgrounds. It contains a carefully tended botanical path dominated by shrubs and bushes such as holly and scarlet firethorn, as well as extensive wooded areas featuring an abundance of horse chestnut, poplars and London planes.
Other noteworthy elements are the monument to German composer Ludwig von Beethoven, whose bust presides over a granite sculpture of a piano, a bear that represents the city of Berlin, and a small auditorium.
