Casa de Velazquez

A Neoclassical palace with a garden and courtyard that houses a centre for cultural creativity.

Located on the campus of the University of Madrid, the Casa de Velázquez is an institution set up to promote French culture overseas. It is a centre for artistic creation and research located in a Neoclassical mansion erected in 1920.

Casa de Velázquez is available for film shoots and offers the following communal spaces:

  • The main presidential style entrance.
  • The courtyard with its vaulted terrace.
  • The entrance hall.
  • The English style gardens laid out in a terrace, with a small fountain.

The facilities include other spaces such as a library, individual artists’ workshops, mainly located in the garden, technical rooms (a music studio, a print workshop, a photographic laboratory) and accommodation for artists who have been awarded scholarships in different programmes.
