Colegio San Alfonso
A city-centre school in a 19th century building with refurbished facilities
The Colegio San Alfonso is a state-subsidised private school in the heart of Madrid. Located in the Lavapiés neighbourhood, it has belonged to the Company of the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul since 1859.
The school had its origin in the Tobacco Factory’s Public Education Schools that were established in this traditional neighbourhood in 1840 to provide schooling for girls from the area, the daughters of the 400 women who worked at the factory.
Its spaces include the auditorium, the courtyards, the terrace and two gymnasiums. It currently offers courses at these levels: Kindergarten, Primary Education and Secondary Education, for which it has different classrooms. There is also a chapel and a multi-purpose room.
