Nuevo Teatro Alcalá
New Alcalá Theatre
A large theatre in the Barrio de Salamanca district
The Nuevo Teatro Alcalá is located between Calle Alcalá and Calle Jorge Juan, in the Barrio de Salamanca district. A well-known historical theatre from 1927, the Alcalá Palace Theatre, as it was once known, enjoyed many years of splendour. Renovated and reopened in 2001, it now stages major musicals.
Some of the theatre’s most noteworthy spaces are:
- The Main Hall, able to seat an audience of more than 1,240 people. Its traditional Italian style layout, the large stalls area and the way the spaces are distributed make it a unique theatre with good visibility from no matter what angle.
- Room 2, a modern, multipurpose and open-plan space located in the basement. Able to seat 250 spectators – proximity to the spectator is paramount – this room’s circular structure allows it to adapt to the needs of each production.
- A rehearsal room located on the top floor of the building. With 100 square metres of open-plan space, it offers abundant natural light and a wooden floor.
- The Cafeteria, located on the mezzanine floor at the same level as the boxes, features large windows that offer privileged views of Calle Alcalá.
