A Madrid mansion with luxurious historic halls in the Barrio de las Letras (Literary Quarter)

The Palace of Santoña is a typical Madrid mansion that was built in 1730. It stands on Calle Huertas in the heart of the city’s historical centre. The current headquarters of the Madrid Chamber of Commerce, its eclectic historic interior is one of the best in Madrid.

Its notable main façade of brick, stone and granite faces onto Calle Huertas. The main carriage entrance has been maintained in a perfect state of repair. The entrance is rounded off by a gala staircase of white marble and impressive frescoes.

In its interior there are a wide variety of lounges and rooms of different historic styles, of which the most impressive are:

• The Assembly Room, with a marked Baroque character, a unique space with four mirrors and a floor in Carrara marble.
• The former gala dining room, currently the Hunter’s Room, with paintings of landscapes and allegories of the hunt.
• The Louis XVI Room, in gilded wood with a lamp made with glass from La Granja, a mahogany table and a wealth of decorative carvings and silks.
• The oval Rotunda Room, surrounded by a sumptuous gallery.
• The Italian style Pompeii Room.
• The Turkish Room with motifs of Muslim art.
• The Oriental Room, with Asian motifs, large mirrors, frames gilded with fine gold and a marble fireplace.
