Colegio Santamarca

Santamarca School

An educational centre in a singular historical building.

The Santamarca School, which belongs to the Foundation of Santamarca, San Ramón and San Antonio, is located close to Berlin Park in the district of Chamartín. Constructed in 1928, the school occupies a large building that combines the neo-Mudejar style with a number of neo-Gothic elements in the windows and pinnacles.

Distributed over three floors and laid out in a square, it has a central axis occupied by the church whose transept is higher than its sides which are communicated by the bay of the main façade, thereby creating two interior courtyards.

Its most noteworthy spaces include the aforementioned church and the assembly hall, while its facilities are rounded off by a gymnasium, and outdoor playground used for sports, the library, several classrooms, technology units and music rooms.

Finally, the ensemble which includes a number of small buildings attached to the wall that surrounds the enclosure, built of brick and also in neo-Mudejar style.
