Biblioteca Pública Municipal Mario Vargas Llosa
Modern facilities for a centrally located library in a multipurpose building.
The Mario Vargas Llosa Municipal Public Library was built in 2014 and is located in the Barceló Multipurpose Centre in the Justicia neighbourhood in the Centro district. Its proximity to the lively social and cultural life of Malasaña and Alonso Martinez turns the building into a cultural meeting point, in an area that boasts the History Museum and the Romantic Museum.
The Barceló multi-purpose centre is a multifunctional building that contains a market, a sports hall, a car park and the library itself. Its avant-garde design is characterized by large windows that bathe the spaces in natural light, and the views it offers over the square.
The library occupies a surface area of 1,395 square metres distributed over four floors. It offers rooms for consultation, reading and lending, Internet queries, newspapers and magazines, a children’s and young readers’ section, areas for workgroups, and a multipurpose room.
