Calle de Juan Bravo

A tree-covered boulevard in one of the main residential streets of the barrio de Salamanca neighbourhood

Calle Juan Bravo is one of the main arteries of the Barrio de Salamanca neighbourhood. From the Paseo de la Castellana to where it ends in Calle Francisco Silvela, this urban street in the form of a tree-covered boulevard during most of its length is noteworthy for its characteristic grid of closed blocks and straight lines.

Walking down the street we find many interesting spots, from where it begins at the Enrique de la Mata Gorostiza bridge. After crossing Calle Claudio Coello, a tree-covered promenade unfolds, dotted with the terraces of the restaurants that can be found in different buildings on both sides of the street, a mix of classic buildings from the 19th century and residential buildings from the 50s and 60s.

Heading east we come across an interesting spot at where the street intersects with Calle Velázquez, an intersection presided over by a sculpture of the painter and the magnificent Palacio de Amboage, the current home of the Italian Embassy.

A little farther on, until it ends at Calle Francisco Silvela, there is a great variety of different types of buildings, including the exceptional parish church of Nuestra Señora del Pilar and the Fundación Doña Fausta Elorz retirement home.
