Casa de la Panadería

The Casa de la Panadería is an emblematic Baroque building in Plaza Mayor, and now the city’s largest Tourist Information Centre. It owes its name, Spanish for Bakery House, to the fact that in the 17th century it was Madrid’s public bakery.

It has beautiful mural paintings on its façade, full of mythological references, which reflect the history, traditions, and identity of Madrid as the capital of Spain. It has two main spaces that are available for film shootings and events, the Royal Hall and the Vaulted Room.

The Royal Hall is one of the city’s historic landmarks, given that it once housed chambers used by the kings. It has ornamental elements of great artistic value, such as beautiful 17th-century tiles and tapestries that adorn the walls and ceilings. The frescoes on the vault in the main room are worthy of mention. It is currently the venue for civil weddings and receptions held by Madrid City Council.

The Vaulted Room is an exhibition space located in the basement, with a capacity for approximate 80 people and remarkable four-metre high vaults.
