Central de Diseño
Central de Diseño is located in Nave 17 of Matadero Madrid. A 1,600 square metre space dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of design, with activities such as exhibitions, training and services for designers and companies.
Its construction is noteworthy for its use of such recycled materials as polycarbonate, industrial sheet metal plates made from car bumpers on the floor, galvanised iron, and glass. It has rooms with different dimensions and a contemporary design that respects the original appearance of its columns and walls:
- Sala Galería. The most visited area is a versatile space insofar as its lighting is concerned, due to the natural light provided by its translucent wall, yet it can also be completely blacked out thanks to a system of electrical blinds administered in sectors.
- Sala de Columnas. A square room with evocative natural light, which can be filtered through blinds.
- Ensanche. This is the area between the two large rooms. It has the same natural light and filtering characteristics.
- Aula Cubo. This room has a special charm because it is halfway between an exhibition room and a conference room. It can be isolated or attached to the exhibition area by means of a system of large revolving doors.
