CentroCentro Cibeles
The CentroCentro Cibeles Cultural and Civic Centre is a contemporary cultural centre that was inaugurated in 2008. It is located in one of the most emblematic buildings of Madrid: the Cibeles Palace, built at the start of the 20th century to house the headquarters of the Post Office, and the current home of Madrid City Council.
During its restoration, its monumental and functional nature was preserved, characterised by the use of stone, iron and glass, and the original open spaces. It blends tradition and modernity in its more than 40,000 square metres, in such spaces as:
The Crystal Gallery, a multi-purpose 2,800 square metre space covered by a glass vault towering 30 metres above the ground.
The Cibeles Observation Deck: an observation deck with a privileged panoramic view of the city from a 70m high tower.
The Caja de Música Auditorium, with a capacity for 270 people, characterised by its use of wood.
The Operations Hall, a spacious area in the shape of a T, the heart of the Centre contains exhibitions, an information desk, a cafeteria, and a shop.
