Colonia Cruz del Rayo
Built between 1928 and 1929, the Cruz del Rayo Colony was the first community in Madrid to follow the example of Howard’s urban garden city model.
The streets are laid out in a star-shaped pattern starting from the central Plaza de José Castillejo (formerly Plaza Aunós), with curved or straight streets that cross it transversely. Most of the streets are one-way with parking available on one side of the road only.
The community includes all manner of varied houses. We can find both single-family chalets with a front garden and a backyard, and two-storey collective blocks.
