Cuesta de La Vega
Offering views of the Royal Palace, the Cuesta de la Vega is a steep curving slope that runs from the Neo-Romanesque crypt of La Almudena Cathedral to Atenas Park, passing alongside the gardens of Campo del Moro Park.
Laid out in the 19th century to tackle the steep slope of the Corniche of Madrid, this road has double ramps on the left and right. The space between the ramps is occupied by gardens and trees.
It takes its name from the former La Vega Gate, one of the gateways of the ancient Arab wall of which certain remains can still be seen in the parks that enhance the slope dedicated to Emir Mohamed I, who also has a small garden to his name.
