254 granite steps that link Calle Segovia to Las Vistillas Gardens.

The Cuesta de los Ciegos is a granite staircase that connects Calle Segovia to the Las Vistillas Gardens. A zigzag staircase at the foot of the Segovia Viaduct, that climbs up what is one of the steepest hills in the city. Its 254 steps lead all the way to Calle Morería.

A quiet corner of the historic city centre that already features in maps of the city from 1656, although it would not receive its current name until quite a few years later. Different legends and versions about, ranging from the miraculous healing of two blind men by Saint Francis of Assisi to a nearby building where blind musicians allegedly lived.

Its history takes us from the medieval subsoil that still preserves a network of galleries and passageways, to the fountain found at its base, the so-called Caño de La Vecindad, which still features the emblem of the City of Madrid that was used during the Republic.

From the staircase, with its characteristic stone construction and several resting areas on both sides, an interesting view unfolds of the Viaduct, Calle Segovia, the green areas of the Las Vistillas Gardens, and the rear of La Almudena Cathedral.
