Playground and family leisure spaces in Arganzuela Park

Madrid Río Park has many leisure spaces for people’s enjoyment, including 17 playgrounds, the urban beach, the interpretation centre next to the Arganzuela Greenhouse and the Puente del Rey esplanade and the Matadero esplanade, which are useful for holding all manner of events.

The children playgrounds that run alongside the river encourage an imaginative leisure time, with 65 different elements, adapted to different ages, using sustainable and natural materials such as wood and hemp rope to create swings, spider webs, hammocks, hanging bridges or vines that can be climbed.

Among the noteworthy sites are the slide hill, located in Arganzuela Park, one of the large areas in Madrid Río Park. This is a hill with 8 giant slides with different curved and straight shapes.

Near the slides is the Urban beach, another of the most popular leisure spaces during the summer season. It occupies a surface area of some 11,930 square metres and has a 270-metre waterfront that runs along the bank of the river.

It is made up of three oval-shaped aquatic enclosures with three alternating effects: a surface sheet of water, where users can lie down and cook off; jets of water that shoot into the air with changing effects, capable of producing different results, and clouds of sprayed water. The rest and relaxation areas, with a surface of over 6,500 square metres and almost 300 trees, complete this space that is only open in the summer.
