Gran Teatro Caixabank Príncipe Pío

Large auditorium in a historic building in the center of Madrid.

Gran Teatro Caixabank Príncipe Pío is located in the old Estación del Norte, designed by the French engineers Biarez, Grasset and Ouliac in the 19th century. The current Príncipe Pío Station is a historic building that has been completely remodeled and has maintained its art deco and neo-baroque style, preserving most of the original elements. An emblematic building located in the heart of Madrid fully equipped, where the classicist historicism of its facade and the modernity of the iron and glass of its high ceilings converge.

With a theater seating capacity of over 1,000 people, Gran Teatro CaixaBank Príncipe Pío is one of the few auditoriums with this capacity in the Spanish capital. Thanks to its retractable bleachers and the height of its roof, this historic building offers total adaptability, transforming itself according to the needs of each event.

Among its historical elements are an imperial staircase, two vintage elevators (not operational but available for visits), nine original lamps, two lockers and a modernist gazebo that serves as a windbreak at the entrance. Other decorative elements such as coats of arms, balustrades or exterior cornices can be found, along with the first street lamp of the city of Madrid, an Elizabethan style lighting that is recognized for being the only one with five arms and that is the inspiration for the rest of the street lamps of the Puerta del Sol. The exterior has a large terrace that contributes to make this space a perfect and complete location for events and filming.
