Huerto de las Monjas
Small interior gardens in the centre of the city
At number 7 Calle de Sacramento, beneath modern, red-brick buildings, is the entrance to the Huerto de las Monjas Gardens, also known as the Palacio O’Reilly Gardens.
This is a small interior garden with several tree species for culinary use and a striking fountain. Originally used as a vegetable garden by the Bernarda nuns (17th century), it evokes the feel of the Madrid of the Spanish Golden Age.
