Plaza del Conde de Barajas

The Plaza del Conde de Barajas is a square in the historical centre of Madrid, in the so-called «Madrid de los Austrias” (Hapsburg Madrid). Next to the Arco de Cuchilleros, one of the main accesses to Plaza Mayor and Plaza de Puerta Cerrada.

A quadrangular space with many exits that has preserved mansions from mediaeval times. Here we find one of the oldest residential buildings in Madrid, dating from around 1660, preserving the typical characteristics of the architecture of the Spanish Golden Age.

A pleasant and welcoming space that has kept its mediaeval appearance, and where there are only a few restaurant and hotel terraces.

For a long time, CineArte Studios, film and sound studios that first opened in 1933, were located at number 6. One of the first sound studios in Madrid and the setting for a large number of film shoots and productions, in addition to functioning as a recording studio.
