The Teatro Español is a historical theatre located in Plaza Santa Ana, the heart of the Barrio de Las Letras (Literary Quarter). Originally a mediaeval courtyard theatre, buildings were added down through the years until it ended up occupying a total surface of 9,500 square metres.
Located in a Neoclassical building with great artistic value, it has different spaces:
- The Main Hall, a proscenium stage theatre with a capacity for 735 spectators distributed among the stalls and three floors with boxes.
- The new Margarita Xirgu Hall is a smaller, more versatile and functional theatre with a capacity for 110 people.
- The Balcony Hall, which grants access to the balconies on the main façade and to another two rooms with views over Plaza de Santa Ana.
- Auxiliary spaces, dressing rooms, offices, and a café.
