The city of Madrid is committed to the audiovisual sector. As one of the leading hubs for production and filming in Europe, cooperation and a shared sense of responsibility among all those involved are key to ensure that filming operates in harmony with the many other activities taking place in the city.
Madrid Film Office has made the new ‘Best practices guide for filming’ available to industry professionals. The guide aims to promote the best possible coexistence between film shoots and other activities taking place in the city. In 2024 alone, the Madrid City Council processed over 11,419 applications to film on public streets, with locations used for 41 films, 53 series and over 430 medium- and large-scale commercials, as well as many other audiovisual projects.
The principle of minimal impact

All production must follow the principle of minimal impact so that filming causes as little disruption as possible to residents, businesses and visitors. It is therefore essential that all parties involved in the production follow the guidance set out in this document and the instructions provided by the locations department.
