AEROPUERTO ADOLFO SUÁREZ MADRID BARAJAS
Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas International Airport, which opened in 1931, handles all commercial flights arriving in Madrid. Adolfo Suárez is located 12 kilometres north-west of the capital. Around 100 airlines from a wide range of countries operate from the airport, and it ranks among the largest in Europe. The airport offers a wide range of facilities: a children’s play area, cafés and restaurants, pharmacies, post offices, banks, car hire, bookshops and newsagents, shops of all kinds, car parks, an emergency area, medical services, a chapel, a police station and nearby hotels.
In addition, the airport has a permanent exhibition space dedicated to paintings, sculptures, photography and other artworks. The area is located in the corridor connecting car park P2 with Terminal T2.
The airport currently has four operational terminals. Terminal T4, opened in February 2006, has received several awards for its acclaimed design by architects Antonio Lamela and Richard Rogers.
The airport is open for filming at its various locations.
