Biblioteca Pública Municipal Ana María Matute

A functional space with an avant-garde design and panoramic views.

The modern Ana Maria Matute Municipal Public Library is located close to San Isidro Park in Carabanchel. Inaugurated in 2013, it is an example of contemporary architecture. A functional building which prioritises the flexibility and transparency of its spaces with great interior visibility.

A space built on a slope with no nearby buildings that allows fantastic views of Madrid’s urban cornice. The structure is crowned by a great metal box with large windows which is where the reading room is located. The interior decoration combines concrete, glass, metal and wood, giving the space an avant-garde style.

The library occupies 3,000 square metres distributed over 5 floors with reading and consultation rooms, workgroup rooms and a modern multipurpose room.
