Calle de Fortuny

An aristocratic street lined with noble buildings.

Calle Fortuny is a street in the neighbourhood of Almagro in the Chamberí district. The tree-lined street has only one lane, with parallel parking spaces on one side and angled parking spaces on the other.

It is a noble street, representative of the north expansion area. The buildings on both sides house offices, institutes and embassies.

Looking south, the dome of the building that is on the corner with Calle Fernando el Santo can be seen and, behind it, the curious electric plug-shaped crown of Torres de Colón.

On the same street is a garden in the courtyard of Fundación Ortega y Gasset, Fortuny Restaurant, and several noble houses, such as Palacete de Don Guillermo de Osma and Palacete de Bermejillo (in official use by the office of the Ombudsman).
