Calle de Lavapiés

Calle de Lavapiés is one of the main streets in the neighbourhood of the same name. It is restricted to traffic and has a gentle slope.

Located in the south of Madrid’s historic centre, this cobbled street joins Plaza de Tirso de Molina and Plaza de Lavapiés, where both the Valle-Inclán Theatre and the National Drama Centre stand. It has many restaurants, particularly of Indian cuisine.

Where it meets Calle de Jesús y María, there is a small playground and an area with trees and a number of terraces, which make this working-class neighbourhood one of the busiest.
