Calle de Tauro y alrededores
Calle de Tauro is a street in the Rejas neighbourhood, next to the A-2 motorway. Known as the “Weekend Housing Estate”, this area of the district of Barajas was developed in the 1940s as a working-class estate of low-cost houses. Due to the subsequent development of Madrid-Barajas Airport, it began to fill up with light industrial warehouses and factories.
This disjointed development has turned the area into a hodgepodge of different types of architecture, especially on the right-hand side of the motorway entrance to the city. Close to the airport, this area abounds in workshops, warehouses and industrial buildings that coexist with old single-storey houses, some of which look abandoned.
