Colonia de Tercio y Terol

The Tercio y Terol housing estate in the Carabanchel District, is a rare example of a neighbourhood of low-rise public housing from the 1940s. It stands out for the quality of its design, in which a trend towards organic town planning goes hand in hand with classical architecture.

The houses are small, two-storey buildings with large patio gardens, arranged in blocks with streets named after Gothic kings.

In the early 1990s, with the aim of selling the houses to their occupants, the IVIMA renovated the buildings and layout of the estate in six successive phases between 1988 and 1998, designed by Valentín and Víctor Berriochoa.
