Colonia San Carlos
The second major project carried out by Obra Sindical del Hogar (Housing Trade Union Welfare) in Villaverde in the post-war period. The estate contains 94 social housing units grouped in six large linear blocks that occupy a closed block, four on the perimeter and two in the interior, creating an elongated square in the centre.
All the two-storey blocks have the same layout: rear courtyards and independent apartments on each floor, accessed by shared corridors and staircases. The sober and simple style of the homogeneous façades allows the complex to blend in discreetly with the urban fabric.
