EITO Chamberí is a new space in Madrid that combines a high-quality work environment with a specialty café. A coworking space with a café or a café with coworking—this concept demanded total flexibility and the possibility of continuous use. During working hours, the space focuses on the café-coworking duality, while on holidays and outside working hours, it transforms to host various activities such as yoga classes, workshops, seminars, pop-ups, and artistic presentations.

The architectural project aims to enhance this idea of continuous use, creating an integrated plaza-like space that is open and connected to the pedestrian street where it is located. This is achieved by maximizing the visibility of the dual-purpose space through the use of nearly invisible window frames that visually and functionally connect the interior and exterior, inviting neighbors inside while blurring the boundaries between indoors and outdoors, making the space feel like an extension of the street.

To further maximize this effect, a large mirror runs along the back wall, complementing activities, expanding the space, and reflecting the outdoors. Additionally, all furniture features mirrored or metallic surfaces, playing with the reflections of the interior, exterior, and vegetation.

In line with the premise of flexible use and offering spaces of various scales, soundproof booths are included for private calls or small meetings. The project also incorporates two “office” areas with a fridge, sink, and other amenities, distributed in a way that allows multiple activities to take place simultaneously without interference.

Finally, the upper floor houses a more private area, designed with neutral colors and decor, enabling it to be rented independently for meetings, workshops, wellness activities, or as an extension of the main space.
