The area around the VPT in Pavones Este
Built in 1996, the Pavones Este price-controlled housing development (VPT) is located on the outskirts of the Moratalaz district, just before Valdebernardo.
The estate is situated on the perimeter of the site and is divided into two large, opposing U-shaped sections. The resulting large interior space was designed as a semi-public square.
“To avoid the image of a façade covered with windows, large slit-like openings were used, grouping those corresponding to the bedrooms, all of which face outwards. On the façades facing the large central space they used setbacks, an auxiliary structure made of perforated aluminium slats that form the rhythm of the layout of the apartments themselves” (COAM Architecture Foundation).
