A unique museum of great decorative richness that maintains its originality intact.

The Spanish Geology and Mining Institute (IGME), is a public research institution belonging to the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. Located in Chamberí, the building dates from 1921 and still has a unique appearance, hence it being declared an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC).

It has great decorative richness, and it houses the Geomineral Museum. The carved wood display cases and most of the furniture are original, respected, and restored.

The entrance to the museum is noteworthy on account of its monumental marble staircase. Its main room is almost 20 metres high, boasting three floors with forged iron balconies, offering an impressive image.

A museum that has known how to maintain its originality with period furniture in wood and glass. A bright space thanks to its stained-glass window that crowns the ceiling of the room.
