Larra – Laboratorio de Periodismo

The building located at 14 Larra Street was erected in 1906 as the headquarters and printing house of a weekly newspaper, and has been linked to journalism ever since. A couple of years ago, a complete renovation stripped it back to its original structure. Modernist, industrial and full of details that tell us its history, this building is a clear example of the architecture of the early twentieth century in Madrid.

A room of more than 600 square meters that was the neighborhood parking lot and still reveals its structure, corners in which the original cast iron that supports the entire building appears and disappears, high ceilings, a skylight of more than 200 square meters over its main hall or an original elevator from a hundred years ago are some of the jewels of this place.

More than 4,000 square meters divided into four floors, ceilings up to four meters high, exterior stairs, two English patios, a set bathed in natural light through a small skylight, original structures, wooden floors that contrast with the concrete, exposed bricks, a rooftop terrace from which to look out over the rooftops of Madrid… Larra hides so many corners that it is worth coming, knowing it and getting lost in its rooms.
