Puente Matilla

This footbridge over Paseo de la Castellana offers one of northern Madrid’s most recognisable city views. From the crossing, the Cuatro Torres skyscrapers and the KIO Towers can be seen aligned along the same sightline, creating an image closely associated with modern Madrid and its financial district.

With its simple, functional lines, the bridge spans a major urban avenue amid heavy traffic, landscaped central reservations, and residential buildings from different decades, bringing together elements typical of the urban landscape in northern Madrid. The breadth of Paseo de la Castellana and the road infrastructure visible throughout the setting convey a sense of metropolitan scale and high urban density.

The location works particularly well for transition shots, walking sequences, or contemporary urban scenes that call for an immediately recognisable image of Madrid without relying on the city’s more familiar tourist landmarks. The contrast between the corporate towers in the background and the more everyday residential architecture nearby also creates a well-balanced visual composition with a distinctly cinematic feel.
