Quinta de Torre Arias

Quinta de Torre Arias covers an area of some 18.6 hectares (46 acres), and is one of the city’s most historic parks. Once the property of Madrid aristocrats since the 17th century, it is now owned by Madrid City Council.

La Quinta contains several areas such as stables, a dairy, a slaughterhouse, a vegetable garden, a dovecote, ponds and a number of sculptures along its interior avenues. There are 51 different tree species in the impressive gardens. The entrance to the park is formed by two Tuscan columns on granite pillars and a road that crosses a small bridge leads to the palace.

The two-storey palace, which dates back to the end of the 16th century, is built around a large courtyard and surrounded by various buildings, including a large a tower. At the end of the 19th century, it was extended and the façade was covered with neo-Mudéjar style facing bricks. It is currently being restored.
