Polígono Y
In terms of urban parameters, the so-called Polygon Y, located in the Marroquina neighbourhood, is perhaps the most experimental of all the estates included in the Moratalaz master plan drawn up by the URBIS development company.
The project’s premise is a linear intervention in which the buildings are located at the edges of the estate, transforming the central space into a large pedestrianised shopping area, with a car park underneath of between one and three storeys.
“To adapt to the topography, three platforms were defined, each with arcades and upper galleries, connected by three ramps. A solution was chosen for the storeys of the apartments that had already been tried and tested, with good commercial results. To complete the development, and as part of the programme of distinctive high-rise buildings, a large piece was built at the western end of the development, closing off the space on that side” (COAM Architecture Foundation).
